More Audio I/O features for Luci Live on MAC and Windows

Version 1.8 contains a few valuable new audio features:

  • Stereo level meters
  • Choose which input audio channel to use when using a mono stream: Default (open in mono mode), L, R or L+R mixed.
  • On MAC, choose specific channels of multichannel audio devices also,  just like on Windows

And a few bugs solved:

  • When no RTP port was filled in at Options/default, it defaulted to 0, now it defaults to 5004
  • On MAC, bug solved when you started with a mono stream and then switched to a stereo station

Stream cloning for iOS7 available now

With the newest Luci Live version 1.7 just released on the App store, you can now use stream-cloning on iOS7:
For instance, if you have an active WIFI and 3G/4G connection on your iPhone, you can send 2 streams, 1 via WIFI and the other via 3G/4G. So when one fails and the other will remain working, the studio will not notice any interruption. The Studio side has to be able to receive these 2 streams and use them accordingly of course.

You don’t necessarily need multiple working network connections though, if both sides support IPV4 AND IPV6, your DNS server is set to return an A and AAAA record, Luci will send 2 streams, one via IPV4 and one via IPV6, you never know if one fails or not .

Sounds all too technical ?

Don’t worry, to use Stream cloning , simply switch the protocol to SC-RTP in the station setting and the rest will be sorted out for you automatically.

If you use Luci Studio for receiving Luci Live streams you don’t have to change anything, it will automatically detect cloned streams. Just leave it set to the RTP protocol.
If you already have an IP-codec from another manufacturer, please contact them to see if their devices are able to receive cloned streams.
