All our LUCI products are compatible with all audio interfaces that are supported by the Operating system.
For Windows it is advisable to use so called ASIO drivers that tend to have smaller latencies ( audio delays ). Most Vendors like RME, Focusrite or Motu have excellent Audio interfaces and supply “multi-client” ASIO drivers. These multi-client ASIO drivers are a must if you want to use LUCI STUDIO as a multi channel server.
Here we will list a few things you should take into account when you use Audio Interfaces from specific manufacturers:
Dante – on Window devices
Audinate has 2 different virtual audio sound-cards ‘Dante Virtual Soundcard’ and ‘Dante Via’:
Dante Virtual Soundcard
- Using the ASIO driver it has support for 64 audio channels in/out but it’s only limited to one application (not multi client !), so can only be used by LUCI LIVE or LUCI STUDIO with 1 instance (no simultaneous streams).
- Using the WDM driver it has support for maximum 16 audio channels in/out and can be used by LUCI STUDIO with more instances (simultaneous streams) with the audio i/o set in WASAPI shared mode, selection of audio channels by choosing the left or right channel of the stereo audio pair, see below:
Dante Via
- Using the ASIO driver it has support for 16 audio channels in/out and can be used by LUCI STUDIO with more instances (simultaneous streams), simple selection of audio channel: see below.
- Using the Standard Windows or WASAPI drivers it has support for 2 audio channels in/out and can be used by LUCI STUDIO with more instances (simultaneous streams).
Note: Unfortunately, according to Dante support at this time, Dante VIA does not work under ESXi virtualization.
Dante – on MAC devices
Audinate has 2 different virtual audio sound-cards ‘Dante Virtual Soundcard’ and ‘Dante Via’ which work natively multi-client on MAC:
- ‘Dante Virtual Soundcard‘ it has support for 64 audio channels in/out and can be used by LUCI STUDIO with more instances (simultaneous streams) or LUCI LIVE.
- ‘Dante Via‘ is limited to 16 audio channels in/out and can be used by LUCI STUDIO with more instances (simultaneous streams) or LUCI LIVE.
Lynx
- Not all Multichannel audio interfaces from this manufacturer do not support multi-client ASIO. So if you want to use ASIO in LUCI LIVE or LUCI STUDIO, make sure no other software is using ASIO with the same audio interface. This also means that only 1 instance of LUCI STUDIO can be used with ASIO. Preferably use the standard Windows audio driver or Wasapi.
- Switch off “Sync Start” in the Lynx driver settings if available.
- Tested positive for multi-client ASIO is the E44 card with Driver Version 3.0 Release 13
